Sadness

Take your sad emotion, and
keep it... Don't lose it for a day.
Notice, what you see,
what new things you hear.
How the smiles hurt,
how the laughters pierce.

Now take that emotion,
and forget it... Forget it for a year.

Notice,
all, the ways you see,
and
all, the new sounds, you hear.

  1. I really like this as a first draft--I would love to see how it takes shape if you EE Cummings it up some more--really play around with the language and syntax.

  2. I like what this poem says about acceptance. Most people will try to forget the past but they wont let it overcome them first. This is saying, so what if it hurts you, accept it and move on.
